~Chapter 1~
Josh was walking in the darkness. It was one of those dark, winter nights and he was counting the street lamps to keep his mind busy. He didn't look like he was 17, because his body and mind seemed to be older. The resonating sound of his footsteps was a sure sign that the street was empty. He turned left at the end of the street. 47 lamps in total. By multiplying the lamps by 6 you would get the number 282. That was his birthday - the 28th of february. After three weeks he'd be 18. While walking, he was wondering what would adultery bring to him...Propably more math and calculations that he hated, despite the fact that he was a genious at math.
It was 3 am when the elevator stopped at the 6th floor. He turned left and when he got near his flat he immediatly noticed that the lock was 0.042 intches mis-adjusted to the right. He has always left his lock exactly at a 90 degrees angle. The moment he saw that, time itself stopped. He opened the door and walked in. There was a man pointing a gun at the door. The boy passed him without paying any attention to him. Josh resumed the normal flow of time. While the armed man stood there, shocked by the sudden change in the view Josh was sitting on his favourite chair, carefully observing the intruder's reactions. When the assassin's eyes finally found their target Josh stopped time again. He was enjoying every single encounter with hitmen and he was gonna play with this one, despite the fact that he was tired. He took a glass and smashed it into the floor. Than, he picked up all of the glass pieces and left them weightlessly spinning in the air - just for the right atmosphere. He pressed the "play" button on his MP3 player. It was playing"Netsky - Your way" - his favourite song. He liked Drum and Bass - a fluent, liquid and fast music - the perfect combination for a person like him, who could stop time. He ran at the intruder, slowly restoring the speed of time. The man's eyes clearly saw that charge, but his body couldn't react so fast. He took the young boy's blow and flew back. The second his feet were lifted from the ground, the boy stopped time again. Josh walked next to the hitman's head and let him see the elbow that was coming quickly from above, towards his face. The lightening flash, as Josh liked to call this move. The intruder got a perfect K.O. in just two hits:
- Personal best. - Said Josh with a smirk on his face.
He dragged the hitman's body out in the street and returned home. He stopped the player and turned the lights down.
- Why don't they quit... Really, those guys are seriously giving me a headache...
He jumped on his bed, stopped time and went asleep immediately.
